SSA Adds 25 New Compassionate Allowances Conditions

The Compassionate Allowances provisions of the Social Security Disability program allows for the fast-tracking of disability claims based on severe, life-threatening conditions.

With the addition of 25 new Compassionate Allowances Conditions, the Administration now recognizes a total of 225 medical conditions eligible for expedited processing and payment.

Included in the 25 newly recognized conditions:

Prostate Cancer

Sjogren-Larsson Syndrome

Small Cell Cancer of the Thymus

Liposarcoma- metastatic or recurrent

Angiosarcoma
