What Evidence Do You Need To Claim SSD?

To seek out social security disability in Ohio, or SSD, a person must provide evidence that he or she has a valid disability claim. While you know that you need the benefits, you still have to make your case. The evidence that the Social Security Administration or SSA requires varies. It is crucial that you have the medical evidence required so that you do not have to worry about any stalls during your claim.

According to the SSA, you need to have specific medical evidence to establish your impairment. This medical evidence has to come from an acceptable source. If you establish your impairment, the SSA will look at the evidence you have gathered. It will look into nonmedical and medical sources to determine if your disability impairs your function in a work setting.

The nonmedical evidence that you can submit includes your word, the word of family members, friends, caregivers, social welfare agency personnel, employers, clergy and other people close to you. Any evidence that you have, you should submit to the SSA. This evidence has to relate to your disability. You should disclose all relevant information about your disability or condition. You have to have enough evidence to display the severity of the impairment, how long you have had it and if you can work.

If the evidence that you have is not enough, then you may have to seek out a consultative examination. In some situations, you can use your own medical source, but in others, the SSA may choose an independent medical source.
